About the Conference
In ACFE’s 2024 Report to the Nation, more than $3.1 Billion is lost to fraud globally. This study covers 1,921 cases from 138 countries and territories. It is estimated that organizations lose 5% of their revenue to FRAUD each year.
According to a study made by PwC, one of the most disruptive type of economic crime in the Philippines remains to be Asset Misappropriation. The diversion of funds due to fraud undermines the link between the planned spending and its execution which affects the country’s economy.
Given the fact that fraudulent actions are often unnoticed and seldom publicized, the estimation of the entire scale of overall losses poses serious difficulties. The real costs associated to fraud are potentially larger as there are indirect costs related to the damage to the credibility of investors, creditors, and employees and to the companies’ reputation due to subsequent scandals; sometimes fraud can cause bankruptcy (Craja et al. 2020).
Fraud goes beyond our individual businesses and sectors but affects us all and the economy at large. As fraud examiners, we must be a part of a holistic solution that truly understands fraud at its roots. To have a broader perspective on the effects of fraud in the country, we invite all business leaders, government, anti-fraud professionals and advocates to the 12th National Fraud Conference as we confront this societal problem head-on.
